Welcome to Our Blog

This blog was started to allow friends and family to see what is going on in our lives. Sit back, hold on and stay a while. It's going to be a bumpy road with a four year old and a newborn on board.

Thrifty Find 3/27/10

Today I went to the America's Thrift Store in Gadsden with Mason and my Mom. I found some great bargains.

I found two toys for Mason to take to the beach with us. One for $.59 and one for $.39.

This navy blue Old Navy polo shirt was only $1.98.

This outfit consists of a pair of Wrangler jeans for $2.98, a pearl button Old Navy shirt for $1.98 and a belt for $.99 that Mason had a fit over.

Mason picked out this toy that he's showing off. It's called a drum stick and is really neat. It makes several different drum sounds just by shaking it in the air. It was a measly $.39. Tim and I both love to play with this great find. :)

I also found a pirate's hat for $.39 and a pair of khaki pants for $1.98 that I'm going to use to make a pirate's costume for a friends up-coming birthday party.

Old Navy Trip 3/27/10

Today my finds weren't nearly as good but still good enough to write about. :) I got a 3/4 length shirt for $4.54, a tank for $4.99, and 2 pairs of flip flops for $5.

I also got Mason 2 pairs of flip flops for $5. This is the first year he's actually wanted flip flops so we'll see how it goes. So far he loves them. He even wore them during his nap the other day.

Day at the Track

For Christmas I got my husband "A Day at the Track" where he got to go to the track in Talladega and ride in a race car. Saturday was the day that we were supposed to go. We went with some friends, Wendy and James because Wendy also got her husband "A Day at the Track". We all had a great time.

St. Patty's Day

So for St. Patrick's Day we had to make something green to take to work. Of course Mason had to help me. I decided to make a strawberry cake with cream cheese icing and turn the icing green. It turned out great.

This is what happens with a three year old when you turn your back for one second. I literally turned around and set the cake on the counter behind me and turned back around and he had the green food coloring pouring it in his mouth. I brushed his teeth and it came off of them. It wouldn't come off of his tongue though. His chin was another story. I didn't think I was ever going to get it off. I tried soap and water and scrubbed until his chin was red. Finally, I tried a clorox wipe because I use them for everything else but I've never used them on my son before. It worked! It came right off and then I just washed his face with soap and water again.

Logic of a 3 year old

Monday night Mason was in the bed and he kept getting up. He needed a drink of juice. He needed his fingernail cut. He needed a bandaid for his booboo. You get the picture. He just didn't want to go to sleep. After about the fifth time of getting up Tim told him that he better not get out of his bed again. I went to check on him a little while later and he didn't have his socks on. The following was our conversation.

Me: Mason, where are your socks?

Mason: I put them in my toy box.

Me: Why did you put them in your toy box?

Mason: Because they were wet.

Me: Why were your socks wet?

Mason: Because I pee-peed in the floor and stepped in it.

Me: WHY DID YOU PEE-PEE IN THE FLOOR?

Mason: Because my Daddy told me not to get up.

Needless to say I told Tim that he had to be more specific next time and make sure to clarify that getting up to go to the bathroom was okay.

Grilling with Daddy

It was so warm today I decided it would be a perfect night to grill out. I stopped by the grocery store and picked up the makings for hamburgers and found some chicken on sale to be cooked for a later night this week. Of course Mason had to help Daddy grill.

Tim let Mason flip some hamburgers and coat the chicken with barbq sauce. Notice the apron Mason had to wear because Daddy had one.

Mason's Rice Krispy Treats

It was such a beautiful day today. We played outside for a while and then tonight Mason asked me "Mommy, can I make some Rice Krispy Treats?". How can I say no to that?

Rice Krispy Treats
1 stick butter
16 oz. miniture marshmellows
2-3 tablespoons peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Melt butter in pot. Stir in marshmellows until melted and then peanut butter. Pour Rice Krispies in and stir until coated evenly. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 dish. Let cool and cut.
