Welcome to Our Blog

This blog was started to allow friends and family to see what is going on in our lives. Sit back, hold on and stay a while. It's going to be a bumpy road with a four year old and a newborn on board.

20 Weeks: Half Way There!

Facts About Baby:

  • length is 7-9 inches long
  • weighs about one pound
  • ears are developed and he can recognize sound
  • I feel movement all the time. Especially at night.
Facts about Mommy:

  • Total weight gain: 10 pounds. I'm pretty happy with this because I gained a total of 48 pounds with Mason and I'm trying not to gain as much this time. I'm half way through this pregnancy with only a ten pound gain.
  • Symptoms: No more morning sickness. Don't let these words fool you because it's not just "morning" sickness, it's all day sickness. Actually, I never actually got sick but I was nauseous all day, every day. Which to me is worse.
  • If I'm on my feet for a long time they hurt and go numb.
  • I'm hot all the time.
  • I can't lay on my back any more or I can't breathe.
  • I get out of breath easily.
  • I'm hungry all the time. But I'm supposed to be. Right? I'm eating for two.

Fun at the Falls

Saturday morning we got up, ate breakfast and headed to Noccalula Falls to spend the morning.

Mason was all about riding the train, petting the animals and putting his faces in the animal cutouts so I could take his picture. It was a great family fun filled day.

It's a....

For those of you that I've not already told, IT'S A BOY! We are so excited to be having another boy. His name will be Jaxon Colt Kelley and we expect for him to be here February 8, 2011 by cesarean section.

Hard at Work!

Tim's been needing to do A LOT of work in our yard but just hasn't had the time. He finally decided to rent an excavator and do it all at once. He did the work while I was at work and Mason was at daycare but as soon as we got home Mason had to have his turn.

Mason thought he had to ride the excavator all weekend and even got to dig in the dirt.

First Trip to Destin, Florida

Back at the first of August we took our first trip to Destin, Florida. We had a great time but decided we like Orange Beach better. It was just a better fit for our family.

This was our first afternoon at the Destin Commons. They had this neat little play area for kids and of course Mason had to try it out. He was such a little dare devil hollering "Higher! Higher!".

This was our first night on the beach. Mason had a blast in the ocean and sand.

We headed back to the Destin Commons the second day for Mason to play in the water.

Mason learned to doggie paddle in the pool that afternoon and we couldn't keep him out of the water. That's all he wanted to do.

We went to this neat little place called The Village at Baytowne Wharf where we found tree houses to play in and we fed the fish at the marina.

Then we were off to The Track to ride the go-carts and bumper boats and every kiddie ride imaginable.

We also went to the Gulfarium and saw a dolphin show and a sea lion show. Then, we were off for our last night on the beach.

30 by 30

A while back a friend of mine posted on her blog a list of 30 things she wanted to do by the time she was 30. I really enjoyed reading her list but at the time I thought I had plenty of time to do that. Yesterday, I realized I have 2 1/2 years until I turn 3-0! I can't believe how time has flown. I thought I better get to work on my list of things I wanted to accomplish. So in no particular order here is my list.

  1. Go to Disney World. (I've never been.)
  2. Cut my hair above my chin.
  3. Learn to paint.
  4. Learn to take better pictures and how to edit them. Maybe even take a class.
  5. Have another baby. (Almost accomplished this one. Due in February! )
  6. Travel farther than I've ever been.
  7. Run a marathon.
  8. Lose weight. (Who doesn't want to do this.)
  9. Write poetry again. Not sure why I stopped.
  10. Take a dance class with my husband.
  11. Learn to like doing stuff by myself.
  12. Be debt free. (Except for my mortgage of course.)
  13. Take a cooking class.
  14. Adopt a dog.
  15. Organize my photos.
  16. Get my scrapbooks caught up.
  17. Attend my 10 year High School Reunion. (Scheduled for next year.)
  18. Learn about my ancestors.
  19. Go on a trip with just my Mom.
  20. Go to the Georgia Aquarium.
  21. Visit a place I've never been.
  22. Go to an Alabama football game. It's sad that I've never been.
  23. Plan a trip to Ireland for my husband. (It's his dream b/c that's where his family is from.)
  24. Learn how to grill.
  25. Get plastic surgery to correct damage from pregnancy. (Doubt I'll ever do this b/c I'm a chicken, but I would love to.)
  26. Save six months worth of living expenses.
  27. Get a makeover.
  28. Start exercising as a family.
  29. Swim with dolphins.
  30. Learn to drive a stick shift.

I'll be sure to let you all know when I accomplish these things. Enjoy!

The "Castle"

My Dad decided that he wanted to build Mason a playhouse in our backyard. Well, I actually think my Mom decided that my Dad wanted to build him one. :) He's been working on it after work for about three weeks now. It's still not finished but here is a couple of pictures. Mason loves it and calls it his castle.

Only a rope ladder, two swings, a see-saw, a telescope and a steering wheel and it will be complete. :)
